Big Decisions have been made.....

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted. Matt and I were talking and making some big decisions that we wanted to share with our family first. After praying and realizing that we were ignoring the path that God was trying to lead us on, we stopped fighting it. We have realized in these last few weeks that God has been trying to tell us that Adoption is what he desires for us. We knew that no matter what he wants us to be parents and that through adoption we will get to parent the child he desires for us.

We have been researching all the different places and we have bought some books to guide us. Matt and I have decided to Adopt domestically. We also would like to adopt a baby. We both really do not want to miss out on all the first with our child. We have discussed that perhaps when our baby is 4-5 we might adopt in the toddler age.

Most of the places I have researched that we feel our of good standing, require you to be married 3 years. So for the next 8 months Matt and I will be saving and paying stuff off so that we can be as prepared as possible for this journey. We realize that adoption can be a very long process, they say the average adoption takes 2 years. So we are prepared to wait and hope that by the time we are 35 we our thorough this process.

I am so happy to be able to share with you all what path God has led us on. We will remain faithful to him and we will not abandon hope nor the desire to follow his will. May God bless you all in the days to come!

  1. Dearest Dana, that's a big decision girl and I can't help but remember you as this happy go lucky, sweet, fun-loving young girl who hangs out with a group of stay-at-home moms and rocking it...:) I miss the crazy highlight color on your hair.
Anywho....just wanna share that after we lost Sawyer in 2001, Kenny and I actually went to one of those adoption agencies and as we were preparing to apply loan and fill up paperwork....we got pregnant with Preston and as you know it, along came Erin. 10 years ago, they don't recommend adoption unless you have tried everything...and they mean EVERY FREAKING tests and experimentation there is. Hope they have changed that stupid requirement. I also learned from a couple who adopted 2 kids from Russia, that they got tax return on half of adoption cost. Doublecheck this. I might be wrong.
Whatever decision you and Matt make, we will be happy for you two...:)

Love you and praying for you,
    Lilly Wieland
